It turns out that electrons flow from the negative to the positive electrode, and have a negative charge. This is the opposite of what you would conventionally expect (i.e. that charge would flow from the positive to the negative [0]). Life would be much simpler if electrons had the positive charge, but the sign of the charge on the electron was set by the choice of positve voltage, which was done long before the electron was discovered, let alone measured. It would be even more confusing to try to get everyone to change the terminology, so we're kind of stuck with it. [0] This idea of current flow is sometimes used as a model in electronics, when it can make some circumstances simpler to understand, and is equivalent, Equally, there are cases where they are not equivalent. [1] [1] There is also the case that occasionally 'electricity' consists of a flow of charged particles other than electrons, and these can sometimes be postivly charged. Hole conduction in semiconductors and ionic conduction in solutions are the two most common cases of it, and they're significantly rarer than electron based conduction.

LOL at the other answers -- are you kidding??

Since it DOESN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING AT ALL, there is absolutely no harm in using it. Pruney feet is the worst that will happen.

I read somewhere that there's no risk of overdoing it so long as you're drinking AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day.

I had wondered about it myself because I think I'm like your Dad and was going to be using it more than the recommended time...

Don't worry. My grandparents go get it done once a week. The only real risk is exhaustion. I did it with them once and it wiped me out! I went home and took a three hour nap! I never nap!

the link below is the only thing I could find. I don't think you have anything to worry about unless he has any of the conditions listed.
